Kindergarten Graduate

John is 2 days away from being done with his kindergarten year! It's been a great year, he's loved his teacher, Mrs. Dain, and he's learned alot about academics and life. Last Friday they had their awards and a "fun day". I was out of town but Ryan got to go and take lots of pictures of John and his teacher and friends! I think the graduation pictures are so cute, and before we know it we will be comparing his kindergarten graduation picture with his high school graduation picture. It all goes by way too fast! Way to go Johnny on a great kindergarten year! Excited to see what FIRST GRADE brings!!!

1/2 year old!

Quinny...you are 6 months old today. Your first year of life is half way over. So hard to believe....but what a sweet six months it has been. I know I use the word 'sweet' EVERYTIME I describe Quin, but that's just what he is....a big ol squishy sweet teddy bear!

1. Wearing 9 month or 6-12 month clothes...size 3 diapers
2. Weighs 18 lbs 13 oz as of today
3. Naps every 2 hours. Up for 2 hours, down for 2 hours.
4. We got UNSWADDLED this month (woo hoo!). It really wasn't that bad of a transition. Night 1 was rough, but after that it got much easier. Now he just goes down with ease...he loves his little bear lovie, and he usually sleeps on his tummy with his head in the corner!
5. We started solids on May 13th. He disliked green beans the first time but did pretty good after that. Same with peas. Yucky the first time, then decided they were ok!
6. Usually goes down for the night around 7:45 or 8....waking up once or twice to nurse.
7. Your thighs are every bit as big as your almost 3 year old brother's!
8. You love to mimic us when we "spit" with our tongue. You love to blow raspberries!
9. You love jumping in your exersaucer and Johnny Jump Up...you are constantly jumping, even when you are being held!
10. You smile constantly, and will laugh some hearty laughs if you work hard enough for it! Tickling under your chin or on your ribs usually does it. Or just act REALLY dumb over and over and over, and you'll laugh and laugh.
11. You roll all over the place.
12. Bathtime is still our favorite time of day. You still lay in your hammock, but you're WAY too big for it. We'll take it out soon enough...you love to just relax!
13. When you're tired or hungry, or just "not happy" you won't cry, but just start talking loudly....you'll get louder and keep doing this for about 10 or 20 minutes. If no one has responded then you'll cry. I honestly have only heard you really cry a handful of times.
14. Your eyes are a bluish/greenish/greyish/brownish. Seriously, they change with what you wear. This morning they looked brown. After a huge blowout and an outfit change, they looked blue because you were now wearing blue.
15. You are such a content baby. You sure fill my days with pure joy.

I love you little man. You are just precious to me, and I can't believe you are growing so fast! I am so blessed to be your mommy!!!!

And this may be the last "sign" month picture...I need to make myself some stickers or just add text to the picture....

WHOLE BUNCH of NOTHING!

What have the Curry's been up to lately? A WHOLE BUNCH of nothing, really!

I've been doing lots of invitations, stationery, and other FUN stuff, which you can see at: www.thecurryinvitations.blogspot.com
That keeps me busy when I'm not busy at home cuddling, loving, cleaning, washing, cooking, laughing, changing, jumping, talking, driving, building, nursing, rocking, feeding, fixing, listening, creating, etc.

Quin has just been a sweet boy. He is at the PERFECT age! Not mobile, but interacting with us, laughing at us, and constantly smiling his big, one-dimpled smile, which is just the greatest. We started baby food about 4 days ago...he was NOT a fan at first, but I think he's beginning to like it some. I can't blame him for not loving green beans and peas. I know he will go crazy for sweet taters and carrots...SWEET and yummy! He did have his 6 month growth spurt and thankfully it's coming to an end. While I'm so thankful he is healthy and growing, eating every 2 or 3 hours around the clock (AT NIGHT) was beginning to wear on mom! I won't say much more because tomorrow he turns 6 months old, and of course, there will be an entire post dedicated to Q!

Braidy is a busy Bee as always. He had a little regression this week in the potty training (I thought we were DONE with this) .... but he had a couple of #2 accidents. I asked him why he did that, and he said "Because I wanted to!"....so after a few times of "WANTING TO", the spanking spoon cured this desire for him...thank the Lord! I would be totally against spanking for a potty accident, but he 100% knows better and has gone at least 2 months with no accidents...so this was just a battle of the wills! He adores his baby brother and is ALWAYS sweet to him...getting in his crib with him when he wakes up, copying whatever momma says to Quin, and being a big help. His new thing he says at least 4 times a day is "I think Quins yikes me!" or "I think Quin WUVS me!"...Yes, he sure does! Other than that, he is saying the funniest things, being sweet most of the time, not so sweet sometimes, and is just 100% boy who loves to wrestle with John and be ornery!

John is wrapping up baseball season. He is doing really good, and their team has improved alot. He plays first base and bats with the best of them. He has 2 missing teeth...and is about to be done with Kindergarten! Wow. This year went by FAST!!! He is such a big help to daddy out in the yard, which he loves. He and I go bike riding together and I think he enjoys getting to go "exploring" other than up and down our street!

Ryan has been busy as always in the yard! He finished our flowerbeds in the front. He poured concrete footings, and planted the flowers, and put crushed granite as the cover (like mulch). Here are the before and after. I think it adds SO much to our house. Now all we lack are our cedar shutters, and we should be DONE with cosmetic work in the front! Our bank account will thank us! Now we just need the sun to come and STAY for a while so our grass will GROW and GREEN UP!

Momma's Day!

What a wonderful day I had yesterday! I think Mother's Day is one of my favorite days of the year....because being a mother is the greatest gift I've ever been given. The day started out at church, where Quin was dedicated to the Lord. He was just a little angel, almost asleep as we walked across the stage, snuggled up on daddy's chest. While dedication does not mean salvation, it does mean that Ryan and I will do our very best to raise Quin in a Christian home, teaching him about Jesus, hoping he will come to know the Lord at a young age. What an honor to be able to dedicate our sweet Quin on Mother's Day!!! LuLu and Aunt Rachy were there with us too. I am so glad they go to be there!

After church my sweet husband took us to Home Cafe' for brunch! It was really yummy and I am pretty sure that everything on the menu looked amazing.

After church we started planting our flower beds (a whole other post soon). Ryan worked all day on them and I helped towards the end when Braidy was awake from his nap and Quin was back down for #2. I am not much of a green thumb, but it was fun helping.

After we were done for the day we went to pick up John from his mom's house. He made me a pretty little flower paper for Mother's Day...so sweet! I got a bike for my birthday and the trailer thing for Mother's Day...it's AWESOME! I've used it pretty much every day since I got it last weekend. Great exercise! John, Quin and I went on a LONG bike ride (John thought it was a little too long, he was tired!)...and apparently Quin did too, he fell asleep about 10 minutes into the ride!

All in all it was a great day spent with the little boys I love the very most! I am so blessed to be a mother to 3 sweet boys, and the wife to one sweet boy!

I am also very grateful I got to spend a part of the day with my mom. She is everything to me and I love her dearly. She is an amazing mom and LuLu to our boys. I told her I never really understood just HOW much she loved us until July 10, 2008, the day my first baby was born. I always knew she loved us ALOT, but you can't understand just how much until you have a child of your own. Thank you mom for all you've done for me and still do even today. Love you SO much!!!

And to my wonderful mother-in-law! You, too, are a selfless mother who raised 3 wonderful boys (I know, firsthand, how hard that is alot of days!)...and who is an amazing Nena to our boys - always so much fun and will do anything for anyone. We wish we could have seen you yesterday, but we are very thankful for you! We love you very much!

"quinquin"

That's what I call him....quinquin. Not sure why that's become his nickname, as nicknames usually shorten a name, not double it. Anyways, back to the chunkiest, yummiest thing ever. He's had a few NEW things happen this week....

1. We tried his Johnny Jump Up! He is contantly "jumping" his legs when you hold him, so we thought he'd love this...and he does. He'll stay in the a good while...jumping, playing with the music toys, spinning around, he just loves it. Sometimes he will put his head all the way back as if it gets heavy...maybe it does. Anyways, he loves his new toy!

2. We tried cereal for the first time last night. He liked it about as much as Braidy did....NOT AT ALL. I am going to keep trying at least a few more days and see if he decides it is ok. If not, we will start food in a few weeks when he turns 6 months old....I know he is thinking "Gosh, there has got to be something better than this stuff!"

3. He has a tooth. Well, sort of. He has been knawing and drooling like crazy for the past month or more. The other day at lunch, Ryan felt a little tooth, but it's more of a molar. It's in the back right on the bottom. So weird but there is definitely a little tooth sticking through. I even saw it later that day. So I guess he officially has his first tooth? I don't know. Strange!
***CORRECTION*** we went to the doctor today (thought quin might have an ear infection, he doesn't...all is good) but I asked her about his "tooth" ... she called it an "oblong pearl"...it's not a tooth. Chances are he was born with it (but maybe not). It might get bigger, might not, but eventually it will go away. Interesting, eh? Learn something new everyday!

That's all. Quin, I just adore you. You are just sweet. Sweet as sugar.

The big 2-8

Saturday I turned TWENTY EIGHT years old. That seems old...but I still feel like i'm 18, so I guess it all works out! I had a wonderful day!!! It started out with an early breakfast at IHOP...i LOVE breakfast! Pancakes, eggs, orange juice....it just doesn't get much better than a yummy breakfast! Quin and I then headed to Christiane's Sip N See that I helped host. It was a lot of fun and I finally got to meet sweet Jake! He is just perfect. Quin looked like a giant next to him. After that I stopped and treated myself to a venti cinnamon dolce latte, because that is the key to my heart. YUM. We then spent most of the afternoon getting ready for our 2nd annual crawfish boil! It really wasn't "for" my birthday, but it was a good day for it! Lots of friends came over and we had a WONDERFUL time! We ate lots of yummy crawfish, corn, potatoes, garlic, onions, sausage....my mouth is watering as I type this! We had "adults only" so it was great to actually get to visit without worrying about your kids for once =) Quin did stay with us, but he was SUCH an angel! He was passed around and passed around, and he just smiled and was SO pleasant. He definitely got 3 gold stars for being such a sweetie! After a while we let the babysitter go and the boys came outside and had a ball. It was such a fun night....a little crazy, but fun!!!! The highlight of the party MIGHT have been when Ryan and Andy got on the trampoline to play "Crack the Egg"...good times! And yes, our trampoline survived! The next day we had another YUMMY breakfast with my Uncle Mike at Cracker Barrell (My FAVE) and then my mom cooked us steaks for lunch to celebrate my birthday....followed with a YUMMY carrot cake. Basically we ate ALL weekend long...but that's what I enjoy doing so it worked out well ;)

Thanks to everyone for making my day SO special. I am so very blessed to have such an amazing family and friends. I have spent alot of time lately thinking how blessed I am. I am very thankful for a wonderful 28 years of life, and I can't wait to see what year 29 holds!!!!
