Christmas: Part 1

Yes, our Christmas will be divided into 4 parts. Part one is Christmas with LuLu, Papaw, the Stone's, and Aunt Rachy. We celebrated the weekend before Christmas. On Saturday, LuLu took us on the Polar Express! The boys were so excited to go on the "choo choo" and we kept talking about it until it was time to finally go! Braidy was sure that he would see cows on the choo choo, because of course, Mickey Mouse sees cows on his choo choo. I hope he wasn't disappointed. The elves sang songs, we got to see Santa, we drank hot chocolate and ate a cookie and we read the story of the Polar Express. The boys had a great time and looked so cute in their jammies. Towards the end they all got a little restless, but it was so fun and I know they really enjoyed it! Thank you LuLu for taking us all on the Polar Express! We had a great time!!!

After the train ride we went to LuLu's for some yummy mexican food and presents! The boys all dug into their gifts and it was a wild place to be...and it's only going to get crazier from here on out! John got a marshmallow gun that was a hit (literally), there were blocks and pretend food everywhere. They had a fun time opening and playing. Sweet Quin slept through most of it, but he was spoiled too. What a fun first, first Christmas it was for him!

As always, everyone was so good to us. What really made it fun and special, was having 4 sweet boys there to watch have the time of their lives. I have so many wonderful memories of Christmastime with my family. I love watching my kids make memories of their own with each other. This whole Christmas season has been especially special having a newborn baby boy. Remembering why we even celebrate Christmas in the first place is really put into perspective when we have our very own baby to celebrate with.

one month old!

Happy One Month Birthday to YOU!
Happy One Month Birthday to YOU!
Happy One Month Birthday to Quin Joseph!
Happy One Month Birthday to YOU!

Wow. Already a month! This has been such a great month...such a fast month, but amazing too. Little Quin is just the best baby. Braidy was a good baby, but Quin is a dream baby. Here's what's going on at ONE month old:

-wearing 0-3 and some 3-6 month clothes. Goodbye Newborn stuff!
-wearing size 1 diapers...but those too will be gone in the near future!
-weighs about 12 pounds...he's a CHUNK!!!
-has 2 chins, and has since birth =)
-sleeps GREAT! The first "stretch" at night he'll go 5 or 6 hours before he wakes up hungry, and then 3 after that, lucky momma!
-he nurses great. During the day he'll get lazy and fall asleep while eating, but he definitely makes up for it at some point!
-is staying awake a little more during the day.
-LOVES to cuddle. I could hold him all day long...you know, if I could.
-likes his swing alot!
-likes bathtime, finally!
-LOVES riding in the car. Never hear a peep from him!
-Still has dark blue eyes.
-gets 123,456,789 kisses per day from Braidy!
-makes the funniest noises. He is such a GRUNTER! He'll grunt and grunt before he falls asleep. The sweetest noise he makes is when he's nursing or trying to fall asleep, he'll just make a sweet sigh at every breath, and it could just melt your heart.
-Makes really funny faces after he's eaten. He'll go from a huge smile to a huge sad face in a matter of seconds. Eyes roll every which way, I love to just watch him and wonder what's going on in his little head.
-Has a very prominent dimple on his right cheek, and one on his left cheek that will show up if he smiles REALLY big!

Happy One Month Birthday sweet Quin. You are just as sweet as can be and we are all in love with you. Thank you, Lord, for this precious blessing! Here are some pictures from his first month of life!

Visitors

Since our little man came into the world, we've had a whole slew of visitors, and I wanted to post about them! We're so thankful for everyone who made an effort to come meet the newest Curry!

Visitors #1: Poppa and JJ.
It was funny, because when dad was here BEFORE Quin was born (patiently waiting, I might add) dad said he'd see us at Christmas. Then, when I called him telling him we were on our way to the hospital, he said he'd probably be up in a couple weeks. Then when I talked to him after Quin was born, he said he'd be there Saturday. He had to come meet his newest grandson! We were really happy to have them come up! Jan cooked a great lunch for us on Sunday. Although the trip was short and sweet, Quin loved meeting his Poppa and JJ!

Visitors #2: Aunt Jess, Uncle Chris, Crockett, Aunt Rach, Uncle Tim, Aunt Darla and Meredith
Jess, Chris, Crockett, and Rach all came to spend Thanksgiving in the LBK, but it just so happened that it was one week after Quin was born! Although it was a wild weekend, we were still so happy they came! My Aunt Darla, Uncle Tim, and cousin Meredith came to meet Quin on Thanksgiving Day. They stayed a couple days, and we were so happy to have them come to Lubbock!!!

Visitors #3: Nena and Pops.
Nena and Pops came on Friday night to stay for a while. All the boys were happy to see them, and Quin was excited to meet another set of grandparents! What a lucky little boy! Pops had to head back to Baton Rouge on Monday, and Nena stayed until Thursday. We really enjoyed their visit! Braidy and John got to go to Chuck E Cheeze with Nena on Wednesday...definitely a tradition with their Nena and Pops (Pops got out of it this time :))

Visitor #4: Uncle Mike.
Uncle Mike had to come meet his newest GREAT nephew! We were so excited for him to come stay with us for a weekend. We had a great time with him, and tried our hardest to brainwash him into loving Texas Tech...with no success. He loved getting to love on little Quin...and the big guys had fun playing basketball with Uncle Mike!

Quin's Newborn Pictures

Our sweet friend Christiane Wheatley took Quin's newborn pictures last week at 12 days old, and they turned out SO sweet. I seriously could look at them all day long and just oooh and ahhh. Here are a few of my favorites...although really all 200+ of them are my favorites =)

Three in One!

Post number 1.
Thanksgiving Fiasco! Or should I say Sicksgiving. I think Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. You get to spend it with all of your family, you get a big fancy meal that is unbeatable, and it's just like Christmas minus the stresses of buying gifts and all that. You get the best of everything at Thanksgiving.

This Thanksgiving will go down in the books as one of the craziest Thanksgivings we have had....ever. No one's fault, just how it happened. My sweet nephew was sick. We all thought it was just congestion mixed with lots of "car snacks" on the drive, mixed with lots of juice that made his tummy upset. As we all sat down to eat, Crockett was getting sick. We were all so sad for him and his parents. Then as we are eating, Rach gets up from the table (I thought she was going to watch a movie with Braidy in LuLu and Papaw's room) but she had left to go get sick as well. 2 down in a matter of 30 minutes. I was starting to freak out just a tad, because I had a one week old who I did not want to get sick. We finished eating and headed home to stay away from the germs.

The next day we went over to LuLus to play a little bit because Crockett was feeling much better and hadn't gotten sick in 24 hours. The boys played and I noticed Braidy was feeling hot. He had a 100.3 fever, but thankfully no throwing up. I started giving him Tylenol and Motrin but his fever would not go away. Friday night everyone went to mom's for a bbq dinner (which was amazing)! My aunt, uncle and cousin from Oklahoma was there, and Marlo and Jake were too. Poor Crockett started getting sick again, so the Stone's headed home. On the way there, both Chris and Jess started getting sick. That night Lulu and Rach both got sick as well. Little Jake got sick when they went home on Saturday, and my aunt also caught it when they got home. Praise the good Lord, no one got it at our house. Miracle. I guess we weren't around enough or for long enough, and for that I am thankful. I would have loved to spend LOTS of time with my family, but with a brand new baby, I just couldn't test it. So, moral of the story....hopefully next year no one is sick. That's just how things go with kiddos sometimes. I did take Braidy to the doctor on Saturday evening, and he had a really bad throat infection that was highly contagious. (fab!) But Quin has still stayed healthy (amazingly) and Braidy is finally starting to feel better. What a wild Thanksgiving!!!

Post number 2:
We live in an old neighborhood with TONS of trees. We love the huge trees everywhere, and they are expecially pretty as fall hit and they began to change colors. And then...all the leaves fell. Our backyard was one giant pile of leaves. I could sweep and vacuum one day, and not 10 minutes later, you couldn't tell. Leaves were taking over. Ryan and his dad tackled that project last weekend, and what a project it was. Braidy and John helped, and they really had fun once there was a giant pile for them to jump in! Here are some pictures of the fun, fall day!

Post number 3:
Quin went to his 2 week check yesterday. He weighed 9lbs 14oz and was 21.6 inches long. That put him in the 95th % for weight, the 97th % for height, and the 85th % for head circumference. He is definitely going to be my BIG baby! Goodbye Newborn diapers and most newborn outfits. He gains about 3 ounces a day. This kid is a good eater! He still is just the perfect little baby. I hope this doesn't change. He does seem to stay awake a little more throughout the day. But he just looks around, taking it all in. God truly blessed us by entrusting us with little Quin!
