The big 2-8

Saturday I turned TWENTY EIGHT years old. That seems old...but I still feel like i'm 18, so I guess it all works out! I had a wonderful day!!! It started out with an early breakfast at IHOP...i LOVE breakfast! Pancakes, eggs, orange juice....it just doesn't get much better than a yummy breakfast! Quin and I then headed to Christiane's Sip N See that I helped host. It was a lot of fun and I finally got to meet sweet Jake! He is just perfect. Quin looked like a giant next to him. After that I stopped and treated myself to a venti cinnamon dolce latte, because that is the key to my heart. YUM. We then spent most of the afternoon getting ready for our 2nd annual crawfish boil! It really wasn't "for" my birthday, but it was a good day for it! Lots of friends came over and we had a WONDERFUL time! We ate lots of yummy crawfish, corn, potatoes, garlic, onions, sausage....my mouth is watering as I type this! We had "adults only" so it was great to actually get to visit without worrying about your kids for once =) Quin did stay with us, but he was SUCH an angel! He was passed around and passed around, and he just smiled and was SO pleasant. He definitely got 3 gold stars for being such a sweetie! After a while we let the babysitter go and the boys came outside and had a ball. It was such a fun night....a little crazy, but fun!!!! The highlight of the party MIGHT have been when Ryan and Andy got on the trampoline to play "Crack the Egg"...good times! And yes, our trampoline survived! The next day we had another YUMMY breakfast with my Uncle Mike at Cracker Barrell (My FAVE) and then my mom cooked us steaks for lunch to celebrate my birthday....followed with a YUMMY carrot cake. Basically we ate ALL weekend long...but that's what I enjoy doing so it worked out well ;)

Thanks to everyone for making my day SO special. I am so very blessed to have such an amazing family and friends. I have spent alot of time lately thinking how blessed I am. I am very thankful for a wonderful 28 years of life, and I can't wait to see what year 29 holds!!!!

Easter 2011

We've had a fun Easter Sunday! Let's backtrack a few days. Braidy and his "friends" (aka our playgroup) had our 2nd annual easter egg hunt last Wednesday. Brock, Madi and Braidy were the only hunters this year, so the gettin' was good! They are finally at the age where they kinda "get it"...although the would each stop and eat some candy, and then continue hunting more eggs. These 3 are such sweet friends...we are so thankful for them (and the missing friends too!)

The Easter bunny came to visit our house and left each of the boy's their own easter basket filled with goodies!!! Braidy was excited this morning about his candy and shovel. We went to an AMAZING Easter service at church and then went about our day. Daddy spent the weekend pouring concrete footings for our flower beds in the front yard, and they look awesome. Tonight a couple of his friends came over to help him and they got finished. Whew! What a job.

Tonight while Kaitlyn and Jake were still over we had our easter egg hunt. We were waiting on John to get back from his mom's house, so we decided to let all the kids hunt! They had a great time (Braidy got a one minute head start)...but they all got a lot of eggs...which also means a lot of CANDY! Kaitlyn found the "special egg" with the $1 in it. All in all it was a wonderful Easter spent with family and friends.

Living, He loved me
Dying, He saved me
Buried, He carried my sins far away
Rising, He justified freely forever
One day He’s coming
Oh glorious day!!

5 Months Old!!!!

Sweet little Quin turned 5 months old today!!! And what a joyous 5 months it has been.

-You wear size 3 diapers.
-You wear size 6-12 month or 9 month clothes (you wore an outfit last week that Braidy wore at his 9 month pictures!)
-Still only nursing....we haven't tried any food yet...we will soon. I'm just having a hard time realizing it's time for all that "big boy stuff". I remember THE DAY Braidy turned 4 months old, I rushed out to get cereal for him to try. This time I'm waiting as long as possible. Obviously he is gaining plenty by just being breastfed, so I'm in no rush, and the Dr. agrees.
-Still waking up at least once a night...usually around 3. Nurse and back to bed in 15 or 20 minutes, not bad.
-Love your swing outside, and sometimes if it's in the evening, you'll even fall asleep in there!
-Take 2 or 3 naps a day...10-12, 2-4, 5:30-6:30 or 7....can't quite make it until bedtime after that 2nd nap.
-A week ago we had his 4 month well-check and he weighed 16lbs 15 ounces (80th %), and was 27.5inches (97th %)
- Really enjoy your exersaucer in the mornings for 30-45 minutes!
-You are ticklish under your neck and on your ribs....but you'll try SO hard not to laugh!
-Have found your toes recently and you'll just stare and stare at them!
-You think your brothers are So funny...always smiling at them!
-You still have to be swaddled every night and at naptime. You WILL NOT SLEEP if you aren't swaddled (only tried for a few minutes, but it didn't work). Pretty sure I'll have to come swaddle you on your wedding night =)
-Our goal for this month is to get you to take a bottle just for the occasional babysitter or when daddy is here with you. Right now you are a NO go for bottles....we shall see!

You're getting so big, but you're still just our little sweet natured baby! I'll take 10 more babies if they are just like you! One of my favorite things about you right now is getting you out of bed in the morning, or after you wake up from your nap, and you're just so happy and have the biggest smile on your little fat face!

and now he's ALL DONE taking pictures....these are going to only get harder to take from here on out!

John turns SIX!

Six years old!!! John turned 6 last Friday (April 8th)...and what a fun weekend we had celebrating him! Friday we got to take him lunch at school (Chick-Fil-A....everyone's favorite!). He lost his first tooth the night before at his momma's house. He must have officially been ready to be 6 years old with his first tooth falling out!

Nena and Pops came to town so Saturday night we got to take him out to eat for his birthday. He picked 50th Street Caboose (talk about memories at that place!) Anyways I haven't been there in at least 10 years, and it hasn't changed much. John and Braidy had a ball, and that's all that really matters! After a quick trip to Bahama Bucks, he went back to his mom's house, but his party was the next day! We had his party with our friend Kaitlyn...they are in the same class at school, they are in our church lifehouse, so 90% of the kids would be invited to both parties...so we decided to do it together. Jump N JUngle was the place, and it was so fun. The kids all had a ball and were tired after jumping and running for an hour or so. He got LOTS of goodies, had some yummy cake, and hanging out with all of his friends = one happy 6 year old!

After the party we got to give him his gift from us...a new BIG bike! He was really excited, and although it's a little big, he can ride it and it will fit him for a while. I think he loved it! That night, Nena made fried shrimp for his birthday dinner, and it was delicious. Us Curry's can eat some fried shrimp! We had a wonderful weekend with our family celebrating a big birthday.

John, we love you very much and cannot believe you are already 6 years old. You are such a big kid these days. You are becoming a independent, well-mannered young boy who is so much fun. Your brothers adore you, and your daddy and Monica love you very much. We pray that this year is the best yet! Happy Birthday to you!!!

Student of the Month!

We are SUPER proud to announce that John was chosen as STUDENT OF THE MONTH in his class for the month of March! Way to go, John! We know it was because he behaves, respects his teachers, and tries his best. He was really excited to tell us his great news, and we were really happy for him! He gets to have his picture hung in the hallway and even got a t-shirt! We are so proud of you John!!!!!! Congrats! We love you!

New Sod!

Our backyard got a serious facelift this weekend, thanks to my handy dandy husband! We got a sprinkler system installed a couple of weeks ago, so now it is time to lay some sod so we have some nice grass to play in! It was definitely an all day project that just might have been more exhausting than the 1/2 marathon he ran the weekend before. John helped daddy quite a bit, and might become a landscape architect one day. He placed the sod around the 2 trees in our backyard, and it looks great! Braidy just played in the dirt, jumped and hung out with daddy most of the day....and proceeded to take all of his clothes off and jump on the trampoline in the buff....whatever floats his boat! Quin and I spectated from the sidelines and enjoyed the pretty day. That baby boy loves being outside as long as the sun is not in his eyes! The final product looks awesome, and we are excited to have a pretty yard just in time for the beautiful weather!

Mission: Accomplished

About 5 weeks ago, Ryan decided he was going to run in a 1/2 marathon. He had not been running previously, so this was more of a motivation to get back in the gym. He trained pretty consistently for a few weeks and then got sick. So for a whole week he was out. With the race just a week or so away, he got back out there and started running. Lots of people laughed at him and thought there was no way he could just up and run a 1/2 marathon. I was a little worried given his heart condition, but knowing my husband and how competitive/stubborn he is, I knew he would not only finish, but he would do pretty darn good. And I was right.

This past Sunday morning him and my sister-in-law Marci, ran the Rock 'N' Roll 1/2 Mararthon in Dallas. Todd, Dan, myself and the 2 little boys went to a few different stops along the way to cheer them on. Nena, Pops, and the 2 big boys met up with us also so we could all watch and support them! I was super impressed. I could have watched the people run all day. It was really fun! Here are the spectators...everytime they'd fall asleep it would be time to get back out into the coldness. They were troopers and were GREAT!

I got texts at the start, the 5K mark, the 10K mark, the 10 mile mark and the finish line. Ryan finished in 2:38, could not have been more PROUD of my husband! Way to GO!!!!!!!
