Tabor's Shower!

My BFF who currently lives in LA is having a BABY!!! I am SO excited for her and Ty, I can hardly stand it! And what makes me even more excited is that he and Quin will only be about 4 or 5 months apart. We've always talked about our kids being friends, and now with 2 the same age, they will be!

Anyways, this weekend we had a shower for her and baby Tabor. We had it over at my house, and I was really excited about that. I finally had a home big enough to hold that many people, and it gave me an excuse (reason) to get a few things done around here. Poor Ryan had a long "honey-do" list, but he knocked it out like a champ and I was so grateful for him. I deep-cleaned and did some finishing decorating touches here and there. Anyways, our home is pretty much put together, thanks to Tabor's shower!

Aunt D and Ty came over on Friday to meet Mr. Quin and to hang out for a while. Can you tell they're going to be amazing parents! Quin LOVED Ty (he loved his Aunt D too, but she had a big basketball that was in his way!) and Braidy thought Ty hung the moon. They played trucks, played in his kitchen, and watched some movie. Tabor is a lucky little man to have such fun, loving parents!!!

The shower was so much fun. Tabor got tons of good stuff - he is going to be a very stylin' little man! There were 6 hostesses and it was so fun spending time with my girlfriends from high school. Love them all. What a fun weekend it was. I can't wait until March or April to meet my newest "nephew"!!!!

Pumped Up.

Yesterday Braidy was helping me in the kitchen...

We made some YUMMY peanut butter cup brownies (and I wonder why I can't lose my last "chunk" of baby weight...)

Then we were washing dishes, which he LOVES to do. As I was about to get onto him for messing with my just-sterilized breastpump parts, I see what he is doing, and QUICKLY grab the camera. He'll kill me one day, but until then....I can't miss times like these that have me laughing until my sides hurt. He proudly said, "I pump dee boobies!"

On a very unrelated note, head on over to my invitations blog. It's VALENTINE'S time!

two months old

Happy 2 Month Birthday to YOU!
Happy 2 Month Birthday to YOU!
Happy 2 Month Birthday to Quin!
Happy 2 Month Birthday to YOU!

So hard to believe you are already 2 months old. It seems like forever since you've come into our lives, but at the same time it feels like just yesterday you came into our lives. I can't imagine what life was like without you. You're such a sweet spirit. You are the most perfect baby there was. If they were all like you, we'd have 20 more. You're a BIG guy, and squishy and I LOVE it! Here's more of what you're doing at 2 months old:

- You wear size 2 diapers (started at 5 weeks old), 3-6 month clothes...some 0-3 but they sure are TIGHT!
- You weigh 14.8 lbs. CHUNK!
- You LOVE to sleep. You officially started sleeping through the night on 1/11/11. Now you'll consistently sleep anywhere from 8 to 10 1/2 hours.
- You still sleep a good portion of the day. You just love your sleep!
- You had your first plane ride on December 22nd to Baton Rouge for Christmas.
- You finally started smiling on January 13th. Smiles are few and far between, you're a pretty serious fella. But when you do smile, I'm putty in your hands!
- During the day you'll nurse every 2-3 hours. You also love to eat!
- You love your swing, your bouncy chair, and you love just laying on your puppy mat kicking your chunky little legs.
- You're definitely a cuddler and we LOVE it!
- You are super easy going and we hardly ever hear a peep from you. Like I said, You're a stellar baby.
- Car rides still put you to sleep and you still love your baths.
- When it's bedtime I wrap you up and put you in your bed. You'll lay there for a while just looking around, then drift off to sleep. Same goes for naptime!

You are precious to us. We love you very very much. If only I could pause time or slow it down some. You're already growing up way too fast. Love you little buddy!

i YIKE my BIKE!

Santa brought John an electric scooter and Braidy a little powerwheels-type motorcycle. When we got home from Baton Rouge they were here waiting for them! They were excited and daddy took them outside to ride the new toys. John was riding his (fast) scooter up and down the street, but I noticed that Braidy wasn't riding his. He came in a few minutes later and told me "I don't YIKE my BIKE!"..."I don't want it!" He has a little bike he loves to ride but he just goes with his feet on the ground (flintstone-style). Well this one obviously wouldn't go with his feet, and he didn't like that. So that brings us to this past weekend. He would still tell us "I don't yike my bike", but we thought we'd take the boys down to the Murfee parking lot to let them ride their toys in a fairly big, open space.

Turns out, we YIKE our bike now! He rode and rode his motorcycle, went forwards and backwards, and even turned around a few times on his own. It goes pretty slow, but he thought he was cool stuff.

John LOVES his scooter. It goes up to 10 mph and it's so fun! Even mommy and daddy took a turn! John is really good at it and has gotten the hang of it quick! Although he does have to wear a helmet, 10 mph crash with no helmet would NOT be good!

We had a ton of fun riding! Can't wait to go back...and SO glad we finally yike our bike. For a while there it was looking as if that would be his present for his 3rd birthday in July!! Here is daddy being silly and Quin being sweet while the boys rode and rode and rode.

two and a half years

My little boy is two and a half today. I keep thinking one and a half. Oh, goodness time flies. Here are some fun, neat, and funny things he does and says at the ripe old age of 2 1/2.

- he is POTTY TRAINED...well 90% potty trained. It's been days since an accident (day and night) but he still won't really tell us, but he'll hold it until we take him. Although yesterday he did go on his own! Hallelujia, only one baby in diapers!
- he is the weirdest eater. He doesn't eat pizza much, doesn't eat chicken nuggets real well, but he will eat celery, TONS of fruit, tomatoes, broccoli, and other foods that your typical 2 year old would stay away from! (the other day he was grocery shopping with daddy, and as daddy looked away for a second, he grabbed a tomato and started eating it like an apple. weird.)
- he is still a kisser. He kisses Quin a million times a day (still!), but he also gives mommy and daddy kisses when we aren't even asking or expecting it. This morning he bent down to my leg and I just knew he was going to bite me. Surprise, he kissed me!
- Some funny things he has said lately: he came to find me and I was in the shower. He opened the door and said "Momma, I thought you were LOST!"...he always looks at Quin and says "Momma, is that baby Quin?"....he says MOMMA 8,000 times a day...when he is looking for something and can't find it he'll put his arms out and say "I can't find Johnny (or whatever) ANYWHERE!" Very dramatic!....When his light in his room is off he'll say in a very hushed voice, "It's berry dark in my Yoom."...when I ask him to go get something for me (usually when I'm nursing Quin) I'll say "Can you go get my phone for me" and he responds, "I SURE CAN!"
- His 'R' and 'L' sounds are most often a 'Y' sound. Room is YOOM, light is YIGHT, like is YIKE, lost is YOST, legos is YEGOS...
- He has an excellent vocabulary. Sometimes I wonder where he hears this stuff.
- Still an avid Mickey Mouse Clubhouse watcher. I think he has a crush on Daisy because he always wants to watch the "Princess Daisy" episode.
- Loves to climb on John's top bunk and then scream "Momma, come get me down!"
- Sings an awesome "Jesus Loves Me" and "ABC's"
- Can count to 12, then we say 14, 16, 40-teen.
- Loves to help cook and wash dishes. We think he is going to either be a chef or a scientist when he grows up. He loves to mix things and pour water back and forth into containers.
- LOVES to give "Scouters" kisses and hugs. He will randomly say "Scouters Yuvs me" throughout the day. And then other times he'll chase her thoughout the houe tormenting the poor pup.
- He makes me laugh constantly. I can be having a yucky day, and he'll do something that just makes me laugh. I love that about him, he's pretty darn funny!
- Wears size 8 shoe, and 18-24 month clothes, some 2T. He weighs about 28 pounds. His little brother is going to outgrow him in no time!
- Everytime we pass Murfee Elementary (which is VERY often) he says "That's my school?" I say, "yes, that is your school one of these days." I know that day will be here in the blink of an eye!

What a fun age and stage you are in, Mr. Braidy. I love watching you say and do new things, learning every minute of everyday. You are too sweet (MOST of the time) and we love you to pieces. You sure are a sweet (and very FUNNY) boy.

Christmas Part 4...The Finale!

For the weekend of New Year's we packed back up and headed south to see Poppa and JJ in San Antonio. We left after Ryan got off work on Thursday and arrived around midnight that night (or morning, I guess). Braidy and Quin did GREAT in the car, not a cry one. Quin is such a good traveler....especially compared to his brother. Braidy did NOT like the car and would scream a good portion of it until he was about 1 1/2 or 2! Not fun. He didn't even cry or make a peep when we discovered in Sweetwater he had a slight blowout and had poo all the way down to his toes. ICK! Costume change! But really, what a sweet and good baby!

Since we drove Thursday, we had ALL day Friday to play! There's lots to do at Poppa's house...a little boy's dream! Braidy helped Poppa feed the deer, "check on the pool", throw rocks, and explore. He cleaned out the garden of rocks. Every last rock was taken out of the garden, and he had a blast doing it. That afternoon Jess, Chris, Crockett and Aunt Susan all joined us! Crockett and Braidy had a blast together and were busy bodies the whole weekend. For New Year's Eve, being the crazy cats that we are, we ate a wonderful dinner as always (seems like all we do while we're at dad's is EAT!) and then made some yummy belini type drinks, and yes, Ryan and I were in bed BY 10:45pm. Happy New Year!!!!

New Year's Day we woke up and had our final CHRISTMAS! The boys were so excited once again...they must have been REALLY good last year! HA! They loved their new rockers and a musical Mickey Mouse book most of all! After a lazy morning full of more presents we played outside some, watched lots of football, and Jess and I did a little shopping! Ann Taylor Loft was having 1/2 off of your total purchase, so we HAD to go! We did a little damage, fun times!

That night Poppa popped some fireworks for us. Crockett was not a fan, and Braidy didn't want anymore after the first one, but he did like them after they'd get going. He'd just jump in my arms each time there was a "POP". Poor Quin got left in the house while the rest of us were outside. Sorry Quin, we didn't forget about you, just didn't want you to get sick! It was pretty chilly outside! After the fireworks we roasted marshmallows in the fire pit. They were YUMMY! Braidy got sticky marshmallows EVERYWHERE (surprise surprise) so we called it a night and headed to the bathtub!

Sunday morning we had to pack up and head home. What a fun weekend we had with our family. I loved watching Braidy and Crockett play and explore together. They love each other and have so much fun. We always have so much fun at Poppa's...usually very relaxing with fabulous food, gorgeous views, and great company. Our Christmas is officially over. Everyone was SO good to us, we have so much to be thankful for!

Christmas Part 3

For Christmas Part 3, we packed up and flew to Baton Rouge where we had a slew of family to meet! The Curry's were anxiously awaiting their 3 grandsons/great nephews to arrive! We got in LATE Wednesday night. By the time we got into Baton Rouge (after an hour drive from the airport in New Orleans) it was almost 1:30 am, and yes, the boys were still awake at this point. Around 2:30 we finally got into bed. Here is Quin on his first plane ride!

Thursday morning started like EVERY morning should...at COFFEE CALL eating beneits and drinking cafe au lait. YUM. Basically a funnell cake for breakfast. Who could say NO to that? It's one of my favorite things about Baton Rouge. It's probably a very good thing that Lubbock does not have somewhere like this...good for the waistline anyways. That day consisted of going to Granny Curry's to pick oranges and to visit, a little last minute shopping, a LONG nap, and some gumbo for dinner that night. After dinner, there was a knock at the door. SANTA CLAUS came to visit! He brought the boys a present and told them that he'd be visiting and leaving thier gifts at home in Lubbock. What a special treat! We love Santa!

Friday morning....yep, you guessed it. Back to Coffee Call! After stuffing our faces with fried dough we went back to Granny's and the boys raked her leaves for her. There were a LOT of leaves! Quin and I watched from inside, but John and Braidy were all over the place...jumping in piles of leaves, swinging, running, eating, you name it. Ryan and Uncle Dan did a great job and I know Granny was so thankful for them to help her get all the leaves up off the yard! Later that day after another LONG nap, Todd, Marci and Noah arrived! The boys had alot of fun playing together. Noah is getting so big and is as cute as can be! After a yummy fried shrimp dinner, we all just hung out. The boys went to the hotel with Nena ane Pops and had a fun fun time.

Saturday morning...Merry Christmas! There were a TON of gifts under the tree, and most of them belonged to the boys. Talk about spoiled! Everyone was so good to us, now we just had to figure out how to get everything back on the plane! We opened presents, played with new toys, and had an amazing Christmas lunch consisting of ham, fried turkey, gravy, lasagna, salad, spinach madeline, dressing, and tons of delicious desserts! YUM! Later we went back over to Granny's to celebrate Christmas with her.

We had a wonderful Christmas with Ryan's family! We loved spending time with everyone who we don't get to see nearly often enough. Again, it was so nice and so special to spend time with family that we love dearly. Looking forward to our next trip to Baton Rouge...and no, not just for the Coffee Call!

We flew back EARLY EARLY Sunday morning. These last few pictures will show you just how much fun (and NOT how much sleep we all got) we had on our trip!

And I almost forgot...my utmost moment of failure as a mother thus far. We were lining up to board the plane and Ryan was talking to a friend he knew. I go to throw something away in the trash and this man walks back into our "waiting area" carrying my child, sweet Braidy. He apparently had taken off running down the airport, quite a good ways the man tells me. Mind you, he had done this earlier, but I had seen him, and I chased him a good 20 yards. However, this time he saw his moment of escape and took off. This poor guy had a daughter and he left her with a stranger to go chase my child. Proud moment. Braidy kept saying "I run away"...and he was so proud. I promise he loves us...he just likes being a little turd even more!
