Red River Days 1 and 2

Last week we packed up and headed to Red River, NM for a fun family vacation. Jess, Chris and Crockett went with us, too! Jess and I had the menu all planned, did all the grocery shopping the night before, and were ready for our trip. We left for NM on Monday morning. A quick lunch and a few stops later, we arrived in rainy, chilly Red River. We enjoyed the rain and the cool weather, as we obviously haven't seen weather like this in quite some time.

Our humble abode was a cute little 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom cabin at the 3 Bears Lodge. Great Place. Highly recommended by us, except next time we might splurge for the larger cabin, it got a little tight at times. The people who owned the place were wonderful and would do anything for anyone to make their stay more comfortable. After we unpacked we walked down to the river (about 30 yards away...so convenient!) where the fun started. First, Braidy took a tumble and scraped up his knee and leg, but he was tough and we were ok! Then John was standing in the river and fell in, and got carried a little ways by the current, scaring him to death. Not to mention the water was ICY cold! Poor guy, didn't like that much. We headed back to the cabin to change clothes only to find out our door didn't stay unlocked when we left, and we had locked ourselves out! The lady was so nice to help us back in. What a start! Good news, no more incidents...at least for a while!

Jess and I cooked a yummy spaghetti dinner and we all ate together. The best thing about 3 Bears is that EVERY night around 8 or so, they would fire up the fire pit and serve SMORES!!! They were so yummy and we all had alot of fun doing this every night. I think Braidy ate about 10 marshmallows every night. John became a pro at roasting the marshmallows, and Crockett just liked watching everything going on. After our first night of S'mores we walked around RedRiver for a while seeing what all was going on.

Tuesday we woke up bright and early ready to roll! Fishing was first on the agenda. THe boys all had their own little fishing poles so we headed to the pond to start. We quickly found out that none of the boys had the patience for fishing. John enjoyed it the most, the mommies probably the least because we had to chase the little ones around making sure they didn't jump into the lake! We didn't catch anything that first day, but it was still a fun time.

After naptime we played at the playground for a while, which everyone loved.

We then found a little trail where we went on a hike along the river.

Then we walked down to the river again by our cabin, this time in swimsuits, and threw rocks into the river. Who knew all we needed for entertainment was a river and endless amounts of rocks! The weather was GORGEOUS this day, maybe 78 degrees during the day and 50 at night....perfect mountain weather!

We grilled burgers and hotdogs for dinner and of course, had s'mores for dessert! After a shower and some playing, we were ALL exhausted and ready for some SLEEP!

finally a name!!!

We have finally decided on a name for our baby boy...

Quin Joseph Curry

We had it narrowed down to 2 names:

and

.

We both really liked both names, although Korbin was my favorite, and Quin was Ryan's favorite. How did we chose? A very scientific method, of course. We wrote each name on a paper towel, wadded it up, and threw them on the floor. We each got a turn to choose one. Ryan, Braidy, and John all chose Quin. I chose Korbin. So Quin won! (but that also means when/if there is ANOTHER baby in our near future, we already have a name!)

Joseph is Ryan's middle name and I am thrilled for Quin to have his daddy's middle name to carry on.

We cannot wait to meet Little Quin. Mommy is getting a little uncomfortable and sleep IS NOT coming her way at night. I guess God is just preparing me for what is to come, and I cannot wait for those middle of the night feedings. There's just nothing sweeter...so i'll take it and try to get used to it now! 3 more months and he'll be here! Quin, we're ready to meet you! Your brothers are very excited about "baby Quin"! And here's a baby bump picture at 26 weeks....

"Shimming Yessins"

For those of you still trying to figure out the title, Braidy and I have been taking Mommy N Me SWIMMING LESSONS for the past 2 weeks at Tech. It was a semi-last minute decision to do it, but I am SO glad we did. He has loved every second of it and has done SO well. He is definitely my fearless child. All the other parents comment about him being a "Swimming Prodigy"..."the next Michael Phelps"..well that's sweet and all, and yes, makes me proud, but I think he'll be more of a crazy stunt diver or something that just takes crazy guts. While all the other kids/babies in our class are crying because they got dipped under the water, Braidy is trying to push my hands off of him so he can swim "by myself". Ahh. He loves him some water, that's for sure!

He has learned how to do scoops with his hands, kick his feet, blow mad bubbles, float on his back (with assistance of course), jump and swim to momma, go touch the bottom of the pool, and swim underwater. His favorite part is when we go under the bridge and float on our backs while singing "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star"...he sings that song ALL day long and it's the most precious thing my ears have ever heard.

Today was the last day and we had a "fun day" where the kids could do whatever they wanted. We played in the splash fountains, the lazy river that wasn't so lazy, it was pretty fast! He also jumped off the diving board twice, and loved it. Too fun! We've had a fun two weeks at "shimming yessins" and can't wait to do it again next summer!

Picture Day!

I know every mommy thinks every picture of their baby is 100% precious, but these new pictures we had made last week just melt my heart. I could look through all 180 pictures all day and just laugh and smile. Christiane Wheatley took these for us and I could not love them anymore. We did them for Braidy's second birthday, and for one last photo shoot of just the 2 of them before baby brother comes along! I think Braidy looks like such a little man in these, and John looks like a high school football player! They are both growing up so fast. I love pictures. These really capture who they are right now and I LOVE that!!! Here are just a few of my favorites....I'd like to put all 180 on here, but that might be a tad excessive!

Nena and Pops Camp II

A few weeks ago, Braidy and John went to Houston to spend a week with Pops and Nena and Uncle Bubby while daddy and mommy stayed home to MOVE into our new home! It was a huge help having them out of the house while we did all of that, and I know they had a WONDERFUL time in Houston. We talked to them at least once a day, and they were always doing something fun!

They went swimming everyday,

they went to the Houston Children's Museum,

went to Chuck-E-Cheeze,

ate pickles and watermelon,

helped Nena make meatballs,

played play-doh,

painted,

went for rides on poor Mustang,

caught lizards,

just hung out

and were just loved and spoiled all week long. Aunt Rhonda, Uncle Bob, Megan and Granny even got to come visit for a couple of days. I know the boys are already looking forward to going back!
