Memorial Day...a few weeks late

For Memorial Day Weekend, we headed east to visit the Curry's and most importantly, to see our precious nephew, Noah. Uncle Ryan and cousin John had not gotten to meet the new little guy yet. We drove in late Saturday night and stayed until Monday afternoon. In addition to seeing Todd, Marci and Noah, we also got to see the Tilley family and help celebrate Poppa's birthday a couple of days early with a BBQ dinner at Aunt Anne's.

Sunday was HOT (surprise, surprise!) but we played lots of baseball in the yard, walked to the park by White Rock Lake, played in the sprinklers, and hung out inside where it was cool. The boys had a lot of fun, and Uncle Todd gave John daddy's old catchers mitt, which John thought was just about the coolest thing ever! Both boys LOVE their cousin Noah. John wanted to hold him quite a bit, and Braidy just would get in his face and in his little high pitched baby voice say "Hi, Noah Cousin!" Pretty sweet boys!

That night we all loaded up to head to Aunt Anne's where Crockett, Aunt Jess, Aunt Rach, Poppa and JJ were waiting for us...along with the aunts and uncles and Tpa and Dma! John, Braidy and Crockett were quite a handful but definitely the life of the party. They really wanted to jump in the pool, but instead just dipped thier heads in. After a delicious BBQ dinner, the boys all played in the yard, caught some lightning bugs (very cool) and enjoyed some cake!!!

Monday we just hung out. Uncle Todd took the guys to a baseball park for a while, while Marci and I hung out at the house with little Noah. Before we left, Braidy and John got to paint a canvas for Noah's room. They thought that was the coolest thing ever, and it was! Unfortunately we had to head back to the LBK, but it was a great trip and we were glad we could make it there, even if it was a short time!

The drive there and back was surprisingly very uneventful. My child is not known for his good behavior on car trips of any length, but he did GREAT!!! Not one single breakdown. This is a big deal. Sure made the trip MUCH more enjoyable!

End of School and a Burn

John has completed his Pre-K year! I know this year flew by for us. John loved his year but is really excited about no more "school nights" aka no movies, early bedtime, early waketime, etc. Starting next week he will be going to baseball camp AND swimming lessons...he'll still be a busy guy. Here are some pictures of John at his awards ceremony. He got the "Biggest Helper" award for always helping Mrs. Hargrove do any and everything she needed him to do. His class sang 2 songs, one about insects and one with all the sounds of the alphabet. They were really cute and entertaining! We also got to watch a slideshow of thier fieldtrips throughout the year. Way to go John! I think he's officially ready for KindergarteN!

We had a baby doctor appointment this morning, which went great. We got to hear the heartbeat (154 bpm) and that was the extent of the appointment pretty much. I did get to meet my doctor finally, and liked her. I also got to schedule about 87 appointments from now until November 18th, yes my due date, no, I hope not to make it to that one! On July 1st we will find out if this is a little boy Curry or a little girl Curry. YAY!

Anyways, this morning, I was getting ready and in our room getting dressed. Braidy was in the bathroom doing who knows what, but that is normal. Then I hear a crash and a scream. The crash was my hair straightener which was heated to about 400 degrees, the scream was my poor baby boy who grabbed it off the countertop. His poor left hand, especially the middle finger was seared and already blistering right after it happened. He was pretty hysterical and I was too. I ran it under cold water for a while but he was in pain. I know that had to hurt, I've burnt myself many times, but never that bad. I tried to put neosporin and a bandaid but he wasn't having that. With about 5 minutes to get to my OB appointment, I run to CVS and buy some spray stuff with Braidy screaming the entire time just holding his poor hand. I think the spray helped some, because he calmed down a little, but not much. By the time we left my appointment he was better but still held his little hand. Once a couple friends came over after our appointment, he was good. He played in water, in the sand, and acted like nothing had happened. Mommy's heart still hurts because I feel very responsible for this, but I know accidents happen...just learned that lesson the very hard way. Here are pictures of his poor little HUGE fingers.

My 22 month old...

I have been a BAD mommy lately...I have completely neglected my camera as of late. I brought her out of hiding, so I can continue to document the happenings around here.

I'll let this first picture tell the story. Let's just say after watching mommy doing something very similar to this on Saturday morning, Braidy thought he'd do the same thing. With sound effects and all. And as yucky as I was feeling, I couldn't miss this photo op. I thought it was funny, and indeed, he made me laugh when I wasn't really in the laughing spirit. Moral of the story: Your kids are ALWAYS watching you and want to be just like you!

And then, when I was still laying on the bed...I hear "Momma, all done PEEEEEEZ" about a million times. Finally I get up to go see what he is all done doing (do I really want to know???) and I find him BEHIND our entertainment center. How he got back there, i'll never know. I tried to get him to get back there again later but he could not get back there. Hmmm...

On Saturday night Ryan and I let him lay with us...or try to. He will NOT go to sleep in our bed, he just wants to play and play and play...and talk. For about an hour he would constantly ask questions: Momma ok? Daddy ok? Momma sick? Daddy sick? Johnny ok? Momma ok? Momma sick? You get the picture. He is a concerned little man. It was just so sweet though, so I answered him every single time. I think this stems from a few weeks ago when my mom and Les both had the tummy bug. It had been quite a while since we'd seen them and everytime Braidy would ask about "wuwupapaw" I would say that they were sick and that their tummy's hurt. Since then, he's always asking if we're ok and if we are sick...obviously sometimes I say, YES mommy is sick!

This morning I couldn't help but take pictures before church. Our little man looked so handsome, if I do say so myself. I really got nostalgic because Aunt Rachy got this shirt for Braidy at his baby shower and I never thought he'd be that big to wear it. (Of course I was hoping he would because it was so cute)...but here he is in his shirt that fits perfectly. Wasn't that just yesterday when we got that???

And today it was beautiful outside and of course we jumped on the trampoline and swung. On the highest big boy swing, of course. Momma got to swing on the short one. Anywho, a couple more pictures.

And while not everything is easy, happy, and wonderful in this little man's world, I try to focus on what is. Yes, the terrible 2's have been in full swing lately, but he sure is sweet and lovable when he wants to be. He gives the sweetest kisses, the greatest hugs (with pats), and the "wuv ewww momma's and wuv ewww daddy's" just melt our hearts. When he says "thank eww momma" after I do something for him or when he says "soweee daddy" after he's gotten in trouble, it makes it all worth it. Good, bad, ugly, I love it all and wouldn't trade being a mommy for anything on this Earth.

updates...

Pregnancy Update: I am now 11.5 weeks along...it seems to be going fast, but November seems a lifetime away. I have good days, and I have very yucky days. Hopefully in a week or 2 everyday will be a good day. I am not as sick as I was with Braidy so I really can't complain. The energy seems to be coming back though, which is a blessing. It's hard to keep up with an extremely active 21 month old when I can't pull myself off the couch. I went to the doctor yesterday and got to hear the heartbeat! It was 175 bpm which is pretty fast, but the doctor said I needed to drink some fluids (I was low) and it would probably go down some...she wasn't worried. It was such a sweet sound! Definitely makes it more real. I'd lost about 3 1/2 pounds which isn't what an OB likes to see, but considering i've been rather sickly lately, she understood. Hopefully next month i'll have put on some pounds.

Braidy Update: This kiddo is just growing up way too fast. I no longer refer to him as "21 months" but I say "he'll be 2 in July!" That makes me sad to think he's almost 2...but at the same time, this is the greatest age...yes, I say that at every single stage. He is talking a ton and says all sorts of things. He is putting together 3 and 4 word phrases like "I get it", "I want some" (usually referring to daddy's shaving cream or mommy's deodorant), "I wanna bite", etc. I love that he can tell me what he wants instead of me having to guess. His favorite thing to do is still JUMP but lately he loves to swing too (not in his baby swing, but of course the big boy swing). He knows there is a "baby" in mommy's tummy, although I really don't think he gets it. He will kiss my tummy which melts my heart. He says it's a sister...hmmm? I think pretty soon we'll really crack down on the potty training stuff. He will still go on the potty some, but not consistent. What a lovely day it will be when I no longer have to buy diapers!!! (at least for a few months!) Braidy loves to brush his teeth and play in the water in the sink. The other day I was drying my hair and went to check on him. He had put toilet paper in the sink and the water was running OVER the top of the sink because the drain was clogged with soggy TP. Flooded bathroom. Lovely...he was just having the best time. Cannot turn my head even for a second.

John Update: John is in the middle of baseball season and he is doing great! He gets a hit almost everytime he is up to bat, and his team is 6-1....they are really good! He loves playing catcher and 3rd base the most. He even got an in-the-park homerun a couple of games ago. He is almost done with Pre-K and will soon be a Kindergartener! He can tell you words that start with each letter and he loves writing words, drawing, and coloring. He has really had a good school year and seems to love it at Whiteside. John also thinks I'm having a "sister". I told him we don't know yet, but he told me you just tell the doctor at the hospital that you want a girl and he'll give you one. HA! If he only knew! I tried to explain to him that God had already put a baby in my tummy, and only he knows if it's a brother or a sister.

First Annual Crawfish Boil!

We hosted our first annual CRAWFISH BOIL yesterday and it was WONDERFUL!!! The weather cooperated (thank you Jesus!) because it had been freezing and rainy the 5+ days prior to Sunday. We had beautiful weather and even some sunshine! Perfect! Ryan had 120 lbs of crawfish flown in from Louisiana and tons of potatoes, corn, onions, garlic, mushrooms, sausage and brats...YUM. We had a great turnout and I know everyone enjoyed it as much as we did! I'm already looking forward to it next year. Great job, husband! You're a pro!!!!!

+++++++++++

Yes, it's true! A new baby is on the way to the Curry household! We are super excited to have a new addition blessing our family soon. I took a test on St. Patrick's Day (March 17th) and MUCH to my surprise, it showed a +!!! I was home by myself, so I told Ryan I had a surprise for him when he came home. He told me later he thought I had a cupcake for him! Hopefully he was pleasently surprised to find out he had a baby growing inside of me, and not a yummy cupcake to eat! We waited until our first doctor's appointment to tell everyone. On Friday, April 9th, we went to the doctor and FINALLY got to let the cat out of the bag.

Our due date is November 19th...a Thanksgiving baby! We have a million birthdays between both familys January - May, so a fall baby will be a good change =) I have been feeling pretty good surprisingly. After being SO sick with Braidy, I just knew I would be sick this go around too. I did get sick for the first time this morning, but I felt better right after. Whether I'm sick or not, it will be worth every minute when Baby C comes around. Boy? Girl? Don't know, and really don't care. I LOVE boys to death and will be great with all boys. Yes, I'd love a girl too. Either way we'll be more than thrilled!
