busybusybusy...day.

Our day was a little busy today....and now I'm sitting here working and unwinding a little. A little "ME" time if you will. I don't usually need much, if any, of that, but today, I do. So I am.

Poor John suffers from terrible allergies, poor guy sneezes a zillion times a day, and can rarely breathe through his nose. It was time to make a visit to the allergist. He was SUPER brave and despite the 60-something pokes on his back, he only flinched. No tears, nothin. I was so proud of him. He ended up being allergic to several of the molds, and several trees...but she thinks some nose spray and an anti-histimine should do the trick! I can already tell he's better after ONE nose spray! YAY! I know he will feel so much better and be relieved not having to deal with that everyday!
Because he was so brave, he got to pick lunch before we took him back to lunch....his first choice? Out of ANYWHERE? McDonalds! YUCK! What is it with kids and that place. Oh yea, the toys. They gotcha just where they want ya! I very nicely asked if he would like another place....ANY other place, and he decided on Cane's...yummy, yummy Cane's. I swear I gain about 13 lbs everytime we go there. I would drink the sauce if it were on the drink choices. So good.

Funny story about Cane's. The first time Ryan took me there (4 1/2 years ago) I HATED it. Granted, I was pregnant with Braidy, and I couldn't say the word "Chicken" without turning green and hauling it to the potty to throw up...so of course I hated the place that ONLY served chicken strips. I thought it was so lame and nasty. Now? It's the bomb. I love it. Their chicken, sauce, bread, sweet tea. YUM.

Ok back to our day. We finished with the dr., went to pick up Quin at Aunt Jess' house (lifesaver for keeping him during the appointment!), went to pick up Braidy from school, and went to Cane's. Ate a delicious lunch, took John to school for a couple hours, and went to pick up our buddy, Tabor.

Tabor's momma has been sick...and she's 8 months pregnant...and did I mention really sick? So we went to kidnap Tabor for a few hours so she could rest! Tabor and Quin played until it was time to get John. They had SO much fun together. They mainly played in Braidy's kitchen and with cars. I got a great video of them dancing to some music. Tabor has some moves. That kid!

The rest of the day was me dealing with grumpy kids (no naps = grumpy Quin!) but there was just not time to nap today, and playing with his buddy was so worth it! It was a full day, a fun day, and a tiring day! I am loving this cool and rainy weather that we had today. Such a nice change...although it did make me want to stay in my jammies, be super unproductive and drink coffee all day.

braidy and the bird

Ryan went hunting last week, and wanted me to keep Braidy up so he could show him the bird he brought for him. Braidy is so funny about animals. He's had a few "duck egg fiascos" and most recently he got an egg from some friends who raise chickens..and he swore there was a "chicken baby" inside. He would hold it all the time, and take care of it. He's very nurturing with birds and their eggs. Kinda weird. So the bird daddy brought was dead as a doorbell, his neck limp, but we had to tell Braidy it was just asleep so he wouldn't freak out that daddy killed a bird. On purpose!

Braidy held it a few times and was really impressed that daddy brought him a bird! Dad went to throw it away, and B kinda got upset! I told him daddy put him on the picnic table and the bird woke up and flew away! That appeased B some....or enough at least. Here's the birdman and his bird.

He did get out of bed, almost in tears last night, saying how he needed another bird. Too bad his momma DISLIKES birds...and is fairly grossed out by them. Maybe one day he will learn to love to kill birds like his daddy!

School, Sickies, and Elmo!

I want my blog to become more of a "day to day" blog, than an "events" blog. So many times throughout my day, I think of funny and sweet things I want to blog about so that I will always remember our lives at this stage. So I am going to attempt several blogs a week, instead of just blogging about the big events, because the everyday is what is even more important!

School is in full swing. John loves it and seems to already be learning a ton. He is super responisble and does his homework with no prompting! That's a big step! Braidy loves his too, although some mornings it's a struggle to get him excited about school. He went on a "Gingerbread Man" hunt yesterday and couldn't stop talking about it! I vividly remember doing that in Kindergarten with Mrs. Burkhalter....so much fun! Quin is not sure about it. He cries when I drop him off, but quits quickly (because, you know, I hang out in the hall just to make sure)....but when I pick him up at noon, he is always (well all 2 days so far) sobbing as they are lining up on their little "rope" where all the kids have a handle to hold on to (genius) but he HATES it. The teachers assure me he just doesn't like the "transitioning" but it kills me to see him so sad when I pick him up. Today I'm going a little later to pick him up so he can get used to walking in the line and go out side to play! We will see how he does!

Last weekend Quin was SO sick. 104.5 temperatures and puss on his tonsils. Poor fella was feeling so bad, shivering and shaking. I sure enjoyed the cuddles though, but there's nothing worse than a baby on FIRE. Thankfully, he is so good now. Being sick is no fun.

We've been LOVING this nice "almost-fallish" weather. We've taken bike rides, Lulu and Papaw took the boys to the park to see the flags a couple of nights ago, Ryan has been hunting a few times...it's so nice. This might be my favorite time of the year. Love the coolness and newness that fall brings.
I bought Quin this little Elmo the other day, and it's a HIT! He loves it and sleeps with it, and I love that he loves it. It's not a problem, to where he HAS to have it at all times, but he does look for it before bed. I've always tried my hardest to get my kids attached to something (besides me!) but haven't been successful. Sweet Quin and his Elmo!

last but not least, quin's first day!

Quin even gets to go to "school" this year. He is in PDO 2 days a week until noon. I hope he loves it, I am sure he will have a great time playing with his new little friends. It took my breath away this morning as he was walking out to the car with his backpack on. So. Grown. Up. I love this sweet heart boy with all that I am. Here he is on his first day of school!

Braidy's First Day 2012

Braidy started 4-year-old Preschool today! He will go everyday until noon, and he is super excited. He met his teacher last week, and loved her, and was only a little disappointed to find out Mrs. Ford wouldn't be his teacher again! I can't wait to see all the things he learns and the fun things he gets to do this year! I can't believe he is so grown up. Love you little man. Make mommy and daddy proud this year!

John's in 2nd Grade!

John started SECOND grade on Monday, and so far, he's loved it! I have no doubt this will be an awesome year in school and out of school. We sure love of this kiddo....such a well mannered gentleman who truly excels in school. Couldn't be more proud! Johnny, have a WONDERFUL year, and remember to have fun, make good choices and be kind! That should be pretty easy for you!

VEGAS!!!

Ryan surprised me for Mother's Day with a trip to VEGAS for our 5th anniversary (August 18th)....so the day finally came when we got to pack up and head out for a weekend of me+him! We were excited, to say the least! Our weekend consisted of: winning money on the blackjack table, losing more money on the blackjack table, seeing CarrotTop (who is SO stinking funny if you're not easily offended....so go see him with an open mind and be ready to laugh), Mystere Cirque show (amazing), some of the best sushi I've ever eaten in my life, dinner at Delmonico's (one of Emeril's places in the Venetian), eating the BEST dessert ever at our anniversary dinner, some time at the pool at our hotel, Trump Towers, lots of walking, lots of people watching, taking pictures just the 2 of us...in the same picture, more times than we have in the 5 years we've been married, enjoying some peace and quiet, face-timing our boys back home, getting lucky playing Roulette, sleeping in, a little Starbucks, a gorgeous new wedding band from my husband, & enjoying the heck outta my husband! It was a fabulous trip and although it was short, it was the best weekend!

Thank you darling husband of mine for a wonderful get-away to Vegas, but most importantly for FIVE fun, exciting, hard, wonderful years of marriage. There's no one I'd rather do life with than YOU!
